FBCL Ministry Garden
Members of First Baptist are working a plot of land adjacent to the church campus designed to provide healthy food for families and senior adults who are in need. The mission of the garden is:
- To provide fresh organic produce for the in-home and sick in the church who may be unable to get to the grocery store.
- To provide fresh organic produce for those in the community unable to afford it
Both spring and fall gardens are planted, and we have been able to provide food to many elderly in-home in the church, Highway 80 Mission, and Hillside Village.
We have been able to expand to twice the size of last year's garden and have already planted potatoes, onions, cucumbers, tomatoes, purple hull peas, green beans, okra, radishes, and squash. We also have been able to begin a small orchard (figs, plums, peaches, and nectarines) and have set out 200 thornless blackberry bushes.
